Munchkin, Pumpkin, Bobo…say what you like about Mr. Faltin’s great series of short, canine-centric stories, but he sure knows how to name a dog! This is my third review of his books, because I really think he deserves a written-out look at his work, such as I can provide. Bobo Gets a Big Surprise was probably my favorite of the series, both because it talks about Faltin’s family in a closer way, that really makes us fall in love with the family dynamics (and doggy dynamics too!), and because it weaves the world of the dogs and the world of the humans into two seemingly parallel worlds. The dogs are always scampering off, living their own lives encountering the flora and fauna of the Canadian tundra, while the humans work on practical concerns involving family and the property (let’s just say the cabin is not quite invincible). Congrats to Faltin for working through this personal and yet universal series of tales about the lives of real Canadians. And for Pete’s sake, buy yourself a copy: are you a Canadian or what? 🙂

I like this third book for many reasons. My kid thinks these are great. I like the photos and the easy to read format. I kept reading after the kid fell asleep.
